Course Description
This course is designed for Translation Section students who intend to write an MA thesis on literary translation and related topics. Different from Translation Studies, the readings will focus more on the relationship between literary translation and translation theory and will explore the linguistic, hermeneutic and stylistic issues relevant to the translation of literature.
This may be offered as a regular course for a small number of students or an independent studies course for 1-2 students.
Readings will be selected from relevant writings by literature comparatists, hermeneuticians, literary theorists and translation theorists.
